What are the Finding Your Voice Writing Workshops?

I created the Finding Your Voice Writing Workshops in 2021, specifically for writers and aspiring writers who, like me, struggle with depression or other mental illness. My goal was to provide an encouraging, positive space to practice our craft, along with a supportive and empathetic community which understands the particular challenges of writing with chronic illness. I run between two and three workshops per year — next workshop coming soon!

What is this Substack about?

This is the community space for the Finding Your Voice Writing Workshop. Here you will find weekly and monthly posts including writing prompts, exercises, and short talks by me and hopefully some guest writers soon!

Who can join?

This community is for writers or aspiring writers who struggle with depression or other mental illness, and would like a place to practice their craft and meet other writers. You don’t need a diagnosis to join, and for our purposes mental illness can refer to many different challenges and neuro-diversities, including things like depression and bipolar disorder, but also eating disorders, substance abuse, ADHD, and autism. Basically it’s up to you whether you would feel comfortable in a space with folks with these challenges, and able to offer empathy and openness.
